Open this page on your Mac to download.
Failshot for Mac is a Mac app, so the download is for your Mac. It’s free to use, and Pro adds video, email alerts and the encrypted vault.
Then, on your Mac:
- Open Failshot.dmg from your Downloads.
- Drag Failshot into your Applications folder.
- Open Failshot from Applications. macOS asks once whether to open an app from the internet: choose Open. Failshot is notarised, so Apple has checked it for malicious software.
- Agree to the terms and allow the camera. Then choose your Failshot PIN and your answer. Use a different PIN from your Mac password: anyone who knows your password would try it.
- Confirm it’s you with Touch ID, if your Mac has it, then sign in with your email. You need to be signed in to subscribe, and one subscription covers every device signed in with the same email.
- Try it on yourself, so you can see what they’d see.
- Turn Failshot on, which is free. Whoever unlocks your Mac next is photographed, and with Failshot Pro a 5-second video is recorded too. Start the Pro trial from Failshot, and checkout opens in your browser, handled by Stripe. With the Mac’s built-in camera, the green light comes on.
macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon and Intel. Failshot checks for updates itself and tells you when one is ready to install. Need help? support@failshot.app
