What does the theft and loss cover include?
Apple's words, from its UK AppleCare page:
- AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss provides coverage for up to two incidents of theft or loss every 12 months while the plan is active. Claim limits reset every 12 months.
- Each incident is subject to an excess fee.
- Theft and loss coverage requires you to have Find My enabled on your device at the time it is lost or stolen. Find My should remain enabled, and the device should stay associated with your Apple Account, throughout the claim.
- During the claim, you'll be asked to erase your missing device, disable it and transfer ownership before you can be issued a new device.
- In the UK, after starting the claim with Apple, you finalise it on AIG's website, aigtheftandloss.uk.
- Same-day replacement isn't available for theft and loss claims.
Apple's FAQ adds that you start a claim at mysupport.apple.com/theftandloss, and the replacement is sent to you and can't be picked up in a store. If you're travelling, Apple says it can send the replacement to any country where theft and loss is offered. Apple's US page states the same two-claim limit and Find My requirement, with a $149 service fee per claim.
Apple's lost or stolen iPhone page says AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss isn't available in all countries and regions. The full theft steps are in iPhone Duo stolen: what to do.
What else does AppleCare+ include?

- Battery replacement at no extra charge if capacity drops below 80 per cent.
- 24/7 priority support.

- Repairs at Apple Stores and more than 5,000 Apple Authorised Service Providers, or by post.
Apple's iPhone Duo spec page notes that liquid damage isn't covered under warranty.
